Patternalia Two
Patternalia Two is about the effective use of colour, being in charge of what happens as you apply colour to your work.
This is a stand alone class.
We will use the tile we each created in Patternalia One, or you can use the tile I provide in the download to explore 4 colour plans rooted in one colour palette you build. It's a good way to exercise flexibility in our colour thinking. You'll be a better colour planner and explorer, you'll build confidence!
The tile size supplied is 5x 5 " applied four times to our backing. you can make a block or a line with them.

There are many of us who feel very unsure when we start to think about colour outside of our tried and true selections methods.
Maybe someone always helps us, or someone always straight up tells us what to do. Maybe we are creating with the same colours in all our work. Maybe when a challenge arises it get solved by someone outside us and we don't know why or how that solution works. We don't grow and we don't bloom. We feel that lack eventually.
We love hues, we are drawn to them, we stack up piles of wool but when we want to try something new, a seachange in our usual palette, we can't find solid footing. We put colours together and they are heinous, or disappear or show up too much. We try to make something realistic but it just won't transfigure from flat to 3-D.
It feels tricky or even like we've been fooled by a trickster. And it's incredibly frustrating.
Colour is the most interesting thing I've ever beheld. I'm under its spell. It's magical.
Using colour effectively and expressively isn't magic though. It's a step by step process filled with possibilities, decisions and results to be inspected for viability.
Only through working with it and working through do we gain knowledge and confidence.
